Zebra Desktop Printers – LP/TLP, GK & GX Series
Zebra LP and TLP Series
The LP series offers direct thermal printing at 203 dpi.
LP2844 is the EPL (Eltron Programming Language) version and can print up to 4″ per second.
The LP2844-Z is the ZPL (Zebra Programming Language) version and offers the same print speed but has better fonts and more memory as standard.
Gradually over 2010 the G-Series will replace the LP series printers. The G-Series will have both EPL and ZPL as standard so there will no longer be a need to specify the language you need.
Zebra TLP Series
The TLP series offers 203 dpi thermal transfer printing in a compact unit taking up less space than the size of an A4 sheet of paper. As with the LP range, the TLP2844 is an EPL version and the TLP2844-Z is the ZPL version.
The TLP3844-Z offers 300 dpi printing.
In 2010 the G-Series will gradually replace the TLP series printers offering both EPL and ZPL as standard. More memory means large and complex label formats will print quickly.
Zebra G-Series
The Zebra Z-Series streamlines the Zebra desktop range and finally delivers a printer with both EPL and ZPL as standard. The product line up is again similar to that of the past LP/TLP series lineup with direct thermal and thermal transfer models available.
For 300 dpi printing requirements the GX430t offers direct thermal and thermal transfer printing in one compact unit.
What is new about the G-Series is that on the GX range 802.11 b/g or Bluetooth for wireless connection is now available and those models include an LCD display to make it easier to see the wireless status.
GK Series
The Zebra GK series offers an entry level printer with lots of improvements over the outgoing LP/TLP2844 series. To keep the price down some optional addons are not available like wireless RF or Bluetooth. If you require those options then consider the GX range. A direct thermal and thermal transfer model are available both offering 104mm wide printing, 203 dpi resolution at up to 5″ per second.
GX Series
The Zebra GX Series offers more memory, faster printing speeds and more optional extras than the entry level GK series. Three models are available with the GX430t offering 300 dpi printing.
