Home/How buying works

Freight · payment · terms · warranty · returns

What happens after you ask.

Most barcode suppliers make you ring to find out the price and then ring again to find out the rest. The prices on this site are real and published. This page is everything else — how you pay, when it arrives, what the warranty is, and what happens if something is wrong.

No account to open, no minimum order, and nothing here changes depending on who is asking.

Paying

EFT is easiest. Cash and PayPal are fine.

Prices on this site include GST. Freight is quoted separately because it depends on where you are.

First order

Payment before it ships, or on pickup

A new account pays first. That is not a judgement about you — it is what every supplier does with a company they have not traded with, and saying so here saves the awkward conversation later.

You are welcome to collect and pay here instead. Berowra, northern Sydney.

After six months

Seven days, then thirty

Trade with us for six months and, subject to credit approval, we extend seven days from date of invoice.

Long-standing customers are on thirty days. Nobody has to ask twice, and we do not use terms as a lever.

Special orders are pre-paid, and we will tell you when something is one. Anything with a long lead time is bought in for you specifically and cannot go back on a shelf if the order changes. A 29-key MC3400 is twelve to fourteen weeks; that is a special order and we would say so before you commit, not after.

Freight

Weight, distance and how fast you need it.

Three things decide it, and they are the three things a carrier charges us for.

Weight

A carton of labels is not a scanner

Label stock is heavy and printers are bulky. A handheld scanner and six rolls of labels do not cost the same to send, and pretending otherwise means somebody is overpaying.

Distance

Parramatta is not Port Hedland

We quote freight to your actual address rather than to a zone. It is the reason we ask for it before quoting, and the reason the number does not move afterwards.

Urgency

Only if you need it

Overnight costs what overnight costs. If the machine is down we will say so and price it. If it is a stock top-up, road freight is cheaper and we will say that too.

It goes on the quote as its own line. Not folded into the price, not “free freight” with the cost moved somewhere you cannot see. If you have your own carrier account and would rather use it, that is fine and often cheaper.

Where the stock comes from

Australian distributors. No parallel imports.

The question nobody asks out loud, answered before you have to.

Every Zebra product we sell is bought here

Through Australian distributors, without exception. No grey stock, no parallel importing, nothing brought in around the side because it was cheaper.

Which matters for one concrete reason: a grey unit carries a warranty that Zebra Australia will not honour. It looks identical in the carton and it is a different thing entirely the day it fails.

Thirty-five years, three names on the same box

We started in 1991 supplying Symbol, and were a Symbol reseller. Then Motorola bought Symbol, and we were a Motorola reseller. Then Zebra bought Motorola's enterprise business, and we were a Zebra reseller.

We are not currently a Zebra reseller. We lost that status during the covid years on market conditions rather than on anything we did, and we have applied to have it back.

We would rather you read that here than wonder about it. It changes nothing about what arrives — the stock is Australian, the warranty is the Australian one, and the person who sold it to you has been doing this since Symbol made the scanners. It would be easy to leave the sentence out and most suppliers would.

Warranty

Zebra's, and it is longer than most people expect.

Between twelve and sixty months depending on the product. It is not one number and we will not pretend it is.

Ask us for the number on your part

Warranty runs by model, not by category — a scanner, an industrial printer and a rugged handheld are three different periods. Tell us the part number and we will tell you what it carries, before you order rather than after.

And Zebra OneCare, if you want more

Cover you can buy on top, for printers and mobile computers, including accidental damage on some plans. Worth it on a fleet that gets dropped and rarely worth it on a scanner that sits on a counter.

We will tell you which one you are.

A warranty claim comes to us, not to a call centre. Same number, same person. What happens when something breaks is a page of its own, because a repair is a different conversation from a purchase.

Returns

We have never had one.

That is a real claim and it needs the reason behind it, so here it is.

If we send the wrong thing, seven days

Our mistake, our problem. Tell us within seven days and we sort it out — the right item goes out and the wrong one comes back at our cost.

It has not come up

In thirty-five years we have not had a return, and the reason is not luck. We spend the time before the order making sure the part is right for the job — which is what the questions are for when you ring.

So read this the right way round. We do not have a generous change-of-mind policy, and we are not going to invent one. What we have instead is a supplier who will talk you out of the wrong purchase — including talking you out of spending money with us at all, which happens more often than you would think.

A returns policy is what a shop offers when nobody asked what you needed it for. Ask us first and there is nothing to return.

And the things nobody asks until later

Short answers.

Do the prices include GST?

Yes. Every price on this site is what you pay, GST included. Freight is the only thing added, and it is quoted to your address.

Is there a minimum order?

No. One ribbon is an order. So is one scanner and so is forty.

Can I collect?

Yes, from Berowra in northern Sydney. It saves a leg of freight and a day. Ring first so it is boxed and waiting.

How long until it ships?

In-stock goes the day the payment confirms. Anything else we tell you the real date before you order — we would rather lose the order than miss the date.

Do you price match?

Yes. A written quote from somebody else on the same part number, and we match it. No haggling, and no need to pretend you have not been looking.

Who do I actually deal with?

Andrei. The same person since 1991 and the same number for twenty years. Which is the whole business, honestly told.

Send the part number and your postcode.

That is genuinely all a quote needs. You will get the price you can already see on this site, freight worked out to your actual address, and a real date — usually within the hour.

Not sure what the part number is? Read us what is written on the machine and we will work it out.
