A printer worn rather than sat on a desk. Three inches wide, no ribbon, a colour screen, and a battery meant to last the shift rather than the morning. It goes where the label is needed instead of making somebody walk back to a bench for it.
The decision between this and the ZQ630 is the width of your label and nothing else. Everything below is true of both.
Same body, same screen, same software, same absence of a ribbon. What separates them is how wide a label comes out and how long the battery lasts, and the width is the one that decides it.
Shelf and bin labels, price tickets, pick labels, receipts and anything going onto a carton rather than a pallet. If the label you hand over today is a standard small one, this is the machine, and it is $100 less than the four inch.
The ZQ630 takes the 100 mm stock that a desktop or industrial machine prints — a full address label, a pallet label, a rack location. If anything you print has to come out at that width, the three inch cannot do it and no setting changes that.
This carries a 3250 mAh battery against the ZQ630's 6800 mAh. Roughly half. For a picker printing a few hundred small labels across a shift that is plenty; for a machine running most of the day on a trolley it is the reason to buy the bigger one even if three inches would have done.
Every mobile printer here is direct thermal — heat onto heat-sensitive stock, nothing to load and nothing to replace. It also means the print fades with sunlight, heat and handling. Right for a pick label read this week or a receipt handed over now. Wrong for a bin label meant to survive a year on a rack in a hot shed, which is a thermal transfer job on a fixed machine.
The Plus models are the same printer to look at and to use — Zebra redesigned the electronics so the line stays available — but they take different firmware and drivers to the ZQ600s they replace. That matters if you are adding one to a fleet somebody already manages, and it is the sort of thing found out on the day rather than in the quote unless somebody says it first.
Ask what the label has to survive before you ask which printer. A mobile printer earns its money by putting the label on the thing while the person is still standing at the thing — a count that is not written down twice, a carton that is not walked back to a bench. That is worth real money in a warehouse. What it will not do is print something that is still being scanned in two years, because there is no ribbon in it.
Both of these are 203 dpi, which is right for barcodes and plain text at this size. If you need small type or a dense 2D code on a little label, that is a 300 or 600 dpi conversation and a different machine.

The box holds the printer and a battery. It does not hold anything to charge the battery with. If this is your first ZQ620, order the charger with it — otherwise it arrives, the battery runs down, and it sits on a desk until one turns up. If you already run these, you have chargers and can ignore this. Spare batteries, the battery dock and the shoulder strap are listed with their part numbers.

1 year, return to base — the unit comes back to us for repair or replacement rather than somebody coming out to you. Warranty runs by model rather than by price, so it is worth checking against whatever else you are comparing.
Every printer on this site is held in an Australian warehouse rather than on a shelf in Sydney, and it goes from there to your door without stopping at our office. That saves a leg of freight and a day. Paid before 2pm on a business day and it generally leaves the same day.
Which is the honest half of the sentence above. A run on one model can mean a wait, and you will hear that from us when you ask rather than after you have paid.
That is genuinely all we need. You get a written quote back with freight worked out to your actual address, because a printer to Parramatta and one to Port Hedland are not the same delivery. On the items you can buy online the rate does not change with distance, and the figure is on the button before you click it — a bigger box costs more to send, so it is not the same figure on every item. A new account pays before it ships, and the clock starts when the payment confirms.
